Fell for a UPI Scam or Online Fraud? Act in the First Hour
The golden window to actually get your money back is very short — here's what to do immediately.
Call the national cybercrime helpline 1930 immediately, or report at cybercrime.gov.in — this can trigger a freeze on the transaction before the money moves further, which is your best real chance of recovery.
Also report to your bank's fraud helpline right away, and request that they flag the receiving account. Keep screenshots of the transaction, any messages from the scammer, and the UPI transaction ID.
File a formal complaint (this can be done online) — even if the money isn't recovered, the report helps build a pattern that can lead to the account/scammer being blocked for future victims.
