What to Actually Keep in Your Pocket Before You Head Out

A few small, boring preparations do more for you than anything dramatic.

A physical ID, a fully charged phone (with a portable charger if possible), and a small paper note with 2-3 emergency contact numbers written down — phones get taken or die, paper doesn't.

Write the national legal aid number (15100) and a trusted contact's number somewhere you can access even without your phone. It sounds small; it consistently turns out to be the most useful thing people wish they'd done.

Comfortable shoes, water, and a basic first-aid item or two aren't legal advice, but they're exactly the practical prep that makes a long, unpredictable day safer.

Quick Answers

Still wondering about...

Should I bring my student ID or college ID?
Yes — having clear identification helps in almost every interaction, from medical care to establishing you're a student if that becomes relevant.

Adhikar is an independent citizen-awareness platform, not a Government of India website and doesn't take a position on the NEET protests themselves — this is general information about rights every student already has, not legal advice for a specific situation. For that, contact a lawyer or the free legal aid helpline (15100).
